This blanket is super soft, lightweight. Actually does hold in warmth if wrap over my legs. But umm some lil fur baby Bleu absolutely love his new blanket. He did kick old blanket to side of his bed. I believe washing on gentle cycle should not hurt it. But do not see shedding of material. Great for home or traveling with babies. Or just myself lay around blanket.
